Name: Dan Ashworth
Instrument: Lead Vocals & Rhythm Guitar
Dan started the band with Al back in September 2006 when he
had a broken foot. He couldn't play football so he decided
to make music again! Dan is the main songwriter of Secret Weapon
although Al has co-written a few tracks. He has been playing
guitar for 14 years and has previously been in a successful
touring band playing rhythm guitar. They released 2 albums
and played gigs in Germany and France.
Name: Al
Bristow
Instrument: Lead Guitar & Screams
Originally a co-writer of songs with Dan, Al helped craft
such songs as "Whats Wrong is Left" and "Jill's Crown".
Circumstances changed which means that Dan does most of
the song writing now but Al did however write Shoot Down Stars
and continues to write songs. Even though Dan is the lead
singer, Al does all the
talking and interacting with the crowd at live performances.
Al acts as the band manager, organising gigs & promotion
drives and sorting our the website/myspace/facebook etc.
Name: Jay Rozentals
Instrument: Bass
Jay joined Dan and Al in mid 2007 after they had not found a
bass player who they felt confident with. 8 Days after Jay
joined up, Secret Weapon were due to play the MAG Lions
Rally. Jay learnt all the songs and aced the gig and it was
from then on that Jay became a solid part of what Secret
Weapon is. Its hard to imagine a Secret Weapon without Jay
in it anymore. Jay also does the driving for the band which
has meant he has missed out on many drunken nights!! Without
this sober dedication, Secret Weapon wouldn't have been able
to have progressed by playing gigs far and wide.
Name: Lyndon
Baker
Instrument: Drums & Second Vocals
After Dan, Al and Jay decided to get a new drummer in mid
2008, Al found Lyndon on the local Berkshire website,
Berkshire Live. Lyndon
comes from Derby and was taught to play by Therapy? drummer
Neil Cooper. He had previously played drums in bands in
Derby before moving to Reading. After a long search for a
new band and after turning down many bands including
some established, he agreed to be the new drummer for Secret Weapon.
The band has moved forward and upwards ever since his
arrival.
